Gap Rest House

Fraser's Hill

Gap Rest House is a colonial mansion that overlooks the trunk road from Kuala Kubu Bharu, perched on a slope just before the Gap. A popular budget hotel run by the government in the eighties and nineties, it was closed momentarily for a refurbishment exercise in the twenties, but work mysteriously stopped as it neared completion.

Today, it remains unfinished - the walls and rooftops are structurally intact, but the halls and rooms inside lie in disarray, strewn with broken glass windows and scattered tiles. Fenced away today from prying hands, it's a curious attraction for visitors to view while at the Gap, perhaps to reopen one fine day.
